How to Hack a Headphone Jack
In my case, I also have the added burden that two of my main contributors are or were speaker manufacturers, some of whose products you will see as References below. Other associates are distributors of speaker lines. Accordingly, I made the only decision I could: All the choices in this category are mine alone.
Hi, I believe most of the HDTV do not have the audio jack, at least I have not seen one, since most of the TV have certain restraint for the electricity output/input, if you really want to hook up to TV with home theater level speaker, then you will need to connect to a AMP at the first place!
Using the headphone jack would be similar to using the head phone jack on an iPod to feed powered speaker system. Then connect the speakers to amp. However its only stereo. Well, this wouldn’t work because I’d be feeding a multichannel amp, perhaps a Emotiva of some kind; this method really sounds like ghetto-rigging it anyways You could the use the pre outs for the zone 2 section on the to connect and external amp.
But there again I think you would be stuck with basic stereo only.
Head Unit Without RCA Output Jacks???
Most common housings for this turbo are 0. This is a good turbo if you have an automatic, and can be daily driven. Somewhat bigger than the TS04, this turbo can make rwhp. It requires an upgraded fuel system. Capable of making rwhp, the T66 is a bigger turbo yet, this is probably as big a turbo as I would recommend for the street, it makes full boost right around rpm on most cars, a significant amount of lag, but not horrendous… full boost being 1.
Apr 14, · I have the alpine hu in my sig and would like to hook this amp up to it but idk if it is possible without a new h.u that has 3 sets of rca outs.
I have a ford explorer with the JBL system with stock sub in trunk, 6 cd changer in the arm rest, the head unit is dead and doesn’t power on. Im selling the car and dont really care for sound quality, as long as the stereo turns on and sound comes out of the speakers I will be happy, bypass amp or not, use the sub or not, doesnt matter. I simply want to know the easiest way to make sound come out of this aftermarket headunit.
Ive read to use the Metra harness which you install where the headunit is and also at the back where the amp is and run wires back there. My question is does the have RCA jacks to connect to aftermarket stereos? I’d like to find the easiest way possible and I dont want to run wire, is there another harness which will work with the JBL system wiring which can connect to RCA jacks? I have done aftermarket installs on other cars before, they were super simple.
Take out stock, buy a harness, plug in harness to old stock wiring and plug in rca jacks into new stereo. I know this jbl system is harder so which harness should I use?
Rca plug on speaker wire?
Certain after-market stereo head units may feature several RCA output connections, located at the rear of the device, specifically design for external amplifiers. Connecting multiple amplifiers to an RCA audio source will provide superior signal quality over speaker level connections from the stereo head unit. Preparation Turn off the vehicle and open the hood. Certain head units may include one or several RCA outputs, providing separate signals for the front and rear speaker channels, while a third subwoofer channel will handle low frequency sounds.
Refer to the installation and removal instructions for the head unit for specific guidelines needed to slide the unit out from the mounting chassis.

How to Connect a Car Stereo Line Out Converter by Travis Corkery Remember the days when we hooked stereo systems up with stripped-bare and twisted wires stuck into little spring-loaded clamps? At least in the aftermarket and consumer audio world, that method has long since been replaced by coupling with plug-in RCA jacks. Though RCA jacks are great for foolproof installation of audio components like amplifiers, almost all cars still use old-school single wires leading from the stereo head unit to the speakers.
Not to worry, though; a simple line-out converter will get your system banging away pretty quickly, provided you’re willing to strip a few wires first. Installing a Line Output Converter 1 Locate the wires running from the head-unit or factory amplifier to the speakers. In most cases you’ll access these wires behind the head unit.
Attach the left channel of the L. Plug in some RCA cables to the L.
Audio Cable Buying Guide
This resulted in significant lag between the screen, sound and my guitar. Rocksmith was no fun when you have to anticipate notes, and then the note played is not in time with the backing track music! To minimise lag, Rocksmith recommends connecting the Playstation3 or XBox to your TV using a HDMI cable, while using analogue component cables to connect to your external sound system.
You may not have a powerful audio system at home through which to play this game. If you have an electric guitar sitting in the cupboard gathering dust, the chances are that you have a guitar amplifier gathering dust too!
If you wish to record from an audio cassette, or a reel-to-reel tape deck, you can connect that deck directly to your computer without the need for any external amplifier or receiver. Simply connect the deck’s “line-out” RCA jacks to your computer’s “line in” jack, using a cable described above.
Depending on the location of the output jack on your instrument, you may want a male jack with a straight or right-angle connector. In deciding how long a cable to buy, keep in mind that longer cable runs are more prone to picking up interference. They often are quite short in length and may be used in a PA or recording setups to interconnect gear, or to link effects pedals to each other in a signal chain.
In addition to connecting a microphone to a sound system, mic cables are often used as longer, balanced patch cables—for example connecting a mixing board to powered speakers. They can also be used for D. Speaker Cables A speaker cable is an unbalanced cable, and usually has a much heavier gauge conductor than a patch, instrument, or mic cable. Speaker cables need bigger wires because they carry much higher voltage signals.
Daisy Chain Cables Guitarists and bassists who use several effects stomp boxes as part of their signal chain are the main audience for these cables. Analog Connectors Here is a quick look at the six most common kinds of connectors you will find at the ends of all of these cables: There is one insulator ring between the tip, where the hot wire connects, and the sleeve, where the ground usually the shielding connects.
These are used for balanced cables, stereo, and as a single connector that handles incoming and outgoing signals. TRS connectors are often found on Y cables used as mixer insert jacks that handle incoming signals with one conductor and outgoing signals with the other.

Mar 27, · my amp was the same way. and it was a bad ground at the amp. everthing was fine until i connected the rca’s so i say find a better ground. and what gauge is the ground wire you are running to your amp maybe it is just to dinky. im only asking cause i have sean some people that have run speaker wire as there ground.
I have a much better understanding of ohm cooking. I have two combo amps. One is a Fender Superchamp X2. The one speaker out jack that the internal speaker is connected to says Minimum 8 ohms. The other amp is a Vox AC10 with a speaker out jack of 16 ohm. I found the Bugera TS On the back it has a 4ohm mono jack and a 16ohm mono jack. I know the Vox will work best through the 16 ohm mono jack.

Aug 16, · Does anyone know if the stock stereo in a XJ (CD/Cassette/Radio) has RCA jacks in the rear. I would like to hook up an amp and was curious if the stock unit might have the jacks .
John Seaber Equipment Guides We often hear from musicians and recording engineers who need to boost listening volume of their headphones. A headphone amplifier is the answer. Alas, mating pro audio gear with typical headphone amplifiers is less than straightforward. Audio interfaces are built to accept balanced inputs and outputs. Headphones and most headphone amplifiers are designed for unbalanced connections.
What are Balanced and Unbalanced Connections? Unbalanced audio consists of a signal conductor and a ground conductor. Thus, an unbalanced stereo audio signal requires only three wires: Balanced, stereo audio requires at least five wires excluding shielding: The equal and opposite signals in a balanced connection are subtracted at the receiving end, so that the signal level doubles and any symmetrical noise cancels out. Noise cancellation is why balanced output is standard in pro audio.
Long cable runs and a plethora of devices need all the help they can get to keep a mix noise free. Connecting Headphones to a Balanced Interface You have a few options to drive headphones from your interface.
Connecting a subwoofer without using external amplifier
Sync your iOS device including music over a shared Wi-Fi connection You can use a third-party audio device to connect speakers to your Mac. Install drivers for the audio device, if needed, before you plug the device into the Mac. You need to install a driver if: Then use GarageBand to record the music on your Mac. To record from your home stereo to your Mac, follow these steps:
I was just wondering if you will be able to control separate volumes. I am wanting to use this format to play bass instructional CDs through the amp. I want to make sure the CD player volume can be turned down so I can still hear the bass.
Older systems usually lack RCA jacks, but just because you have an older system does not mean you cannot add an amp for additional power to push your speakers or subwoofers. Before you begin the installation process, it’s imperative that you make sure the amp you’ve chosen is capable of accepting speaker or line-level connections. Once you’ve double-checked these things, you’re ready to start. You can mount it on the back of a seat, on the sidewall, on the back of your subwoofer box or on the floor of the trunk away from any loose items that may damage the amp by shifting when the car moves.
Disconnect the negative terminal of your car’s battery for safety purposes. Open the amp wiring kit, which contains all the wiring you’ll need to hook-up your amp. You will need to connect the lengthy, red wire to the positive terminal of the battery.
